* Waldorf Kindergarten Parent and Child *
Seedlings Steiner Waldorf Parent and Child Group is for children from birth to 3 years, accompanied by their parents or carers.
The group runs outdoors in the beautiful setting of the Bluebell Allotment, and aims to provide an experience to encourage the healthy development of the very young child. Children learn through self directed play, and by following the example of the adults around them. The group also strives to nourish and support parents and carers in their challenging roles, as well as providing information about the Steiner Waldorf philosophy of early childhood care and education. The Rhythm of the MorningThe session follows the same rhythm every morning, beginning with a period of outdoor free play. Children have access to gardening equipment, toys, and natural playthings such as sticks, leaves, conkers, and fire cones, which encourage creativity and the development of the imagination.
During this free play time the adults have the opportunity to join in with gardening tasks, and to share their experiences of parenting, whilst enjoying a nice cup of tea. After playtime we tidy up together before sitting around the table to share a wholesome snack of bread, rice cakes, and fruit. We then come together in a circle to sing some seasonal songs, rhymes, and finger games, before singing our goodbyes. Transition to KindergartenSeedlings parent and child group is ideal for children who’s parents would like them to progress to join the kindergarten from around 3 years old, and all families are welcome regardless of whether the kindergarten is being considered.
Children who have attended the parent and child group invariably experience a smooth transition into kindergarten, as the group allows them to build a relationship with the kindergarten teacher, and to become familiar with the setting and the rhythm of the morning. Parent & Child Group Sessions
Bluebell Allotment The Avenues, Norwich, NR4 7DP. Wednesday mornings - 10.00am to 12.00pm Wednesday afternoons - 1.00pm to 3.00pm * * * Seedlings is currently experimenting with the * GIFT ECONOMY * This means that as an alternative to charging fixed fees I am offering Seedlings as a gift. In order to make this work within the exchange economy in which we live, and to care for the groups sustainability, I invite families to donate the most amount of money that makes sense to you, including £0, within both willingness and capacity. The way the gift economy can work is when families who are financially abundant are willing to pay more than the going rate, so that families with less capacity to pay, can pay less, including £0. * * * If you are not sure how much to donate and would like some clarity then please see below for the 'going rate':
The current 'going rate' for sessions is: £10.00 per session for x1 adult and x1 child £12.00 per session for x1 adult and x2 children Please note - At Seedlings we believe that young children are supported by rhythm and repetition in their lives, and for this reason we encourage families to commit to attending the group every week whenever possible.
