​Seedlings Kindergarten is run by Katie Harley, a qualified Steiner Waldorf teacher with many years experience of working within early years.  

Seedlings fosters a warm and caring home from home atmosphere, where children of mixed ages are encouraged to play in a creative and imaginative way with simple toys made from natural materials.  

The Steiner Waldorf philosophy of education believes that young children, when provided with a rich and nourishing environment, will develop healthily at their own pace, without the need for formal teaching or testing.  Each child is valued for their uniqueness, supported on their individual journey through life, and encouraged to reach their full potential in a nurturing and unhurried way.

Art and Craft Activities

At Seedlings children use high quality, natural craft materials for sewing, carding, felting, weaving, finger knitting, beeswax modelling, watercolour painting, egg decorating, candle dipping, leaf rubbing, lantern making, crayon drawing, woodwork, whittling and more...

Seasonal Food Preperation

Everyone loves to join in with baking bread rolls for snack time, cutting up veg for soup, collecting and pressing apples for juice, collecting elderflowers for cordial, slicing apples and collecting plums to make crumble, or making special food for festivals such as pancakes or dragon bread...

Creative Play, Inside and Out 

Guided by their imaginations children engage in creative free play, both inside and out, using toys and equipment made from natural materials, which nurture the senses. Outside the children have space to run around, to climb and balance, to dig in the sandpit, or hide in the willow hut...

Songs, Rhymes, and Stories

Through singing we lead the children from one activity to another, as we follow the gentle rhythm of the morning.  Seasonal songs, rhymes and finger games are enjoyed by the children every day during 'circle time', and each morning ends with a fairytale or nature story...
